Who are We and What do We Do?

Havard Sales Management Company is "taking care of business" in Lufkin, Texas. Owner and manager, Raymond Havard says, "By taking care of business today, we hope to ensure a place for everyone to buy and sell quality horses in the future."

Havard knows a little something about the auction business (see his Bio below). His company was incorporated in 1978, but auctions began as early as 1964. Actual auctions are held throughout Texas, and the sales in Lufkin are the sales with the largest number of horses offered for auction in the state of Texas.

Havard says his company is proud to provide quality horses and service at each auction. The company has an extensive mailing list of over 10,500 active customers. Much of the success of the company is attributed to being a customer oriented business. The company's service speaks for itself. Havard summed it all up by saying -

"We offer a complete auction service for horses. We can travel to different locations, whether it be a farm or an established Exposition Center to conduct auctions. We also offer a web site and can accept credit cards as a form of payment. We are always striving to offer extraordinary service."

Havard Sales Management Company is bonded by the USDA Packers and Stockyards Administration, licensed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and member of the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau.

Biography of Raymond Havard

Raymond Havard thought he wanted to be an auctioneer, so in 1963 he attended the Walter Brittian Auctioneer School in Bryan, Texas. After completing his training, he started conducting monthly horse sales which he continued for a number of years. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, he also conducted equipment sales.

Havard has a love of horses that extends beyond the professional arena and he obviously knows his horses! He raises and breeds quarter horses and has owned many nice and well known horses. Some of the sons of Doc Bar he has owned includes: Doc's Sug (AQHA Champion), Docs Gold Mine (Performance ROM), Mr. Senbar (NCHA COA, AQHA Superior Cutting Horse), Docs Voyager (COA), and Doc Seville (NCHA money earner). Other horses he has owned have included Rey Lynx (now has NCHA earnings of $554,601) and Gold Fingers (1976 AQHA World Heeling Jr Champion, 1976 AQHA Open Champion). Currently he is half owner of Badger Starlight who is a proven sire of NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA money earners.

D.J. helps us out with bookkeeping, keeping the mail list up to date and taking catalog requests. She will also be working the information booth at the sales.
